Charles III visits Ukrainian soldiers undergoing training in England

(London) King Charles III paid a visit to Ukrainian soldiers training with the British army on Monday, expressing his “admiration” for them as the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine approaches.

Although the British royal family does not intervene in political affairs, its main members have come out of their reserve on several occasions over the past year, through personal donations, visits to refugees or when Volodymyr Zelensky was received by the sovereign at the Buckingham Palace in early February.

The king visited a military site in the southwest of England. He witnessed the training followed by Ukrainians, often civilians who joined the army with no military experience, who practiced storming trenches, as part of a five-week course.

“You are incredible, I don’t know how you do it, I am full of admiration,” he told an officer.

Since last summer, some 10,000 Ukrainian servicemen have been trained in the UK and the British army plans to train 20,000 more this year.
