Charles III: the King of England will visit Bordeaux at the end of March

The Pey-Berland tower has the big bell, King Charles III, it’s official, will walk the streets of Bordeaux (Gironde) at the end of the month. The news has already animated a few conversations in the oldest English pub in Bordeaux. The Australian bartender already knows that if the king crosses the threshold of the pub, he will offer him a white beer. This is not Charles’ first visit to Aquitaine. In 1977, the prince was 29 years old. Mayor Jacques Chaban-Delmas welcomes him on the occasion of an exhibition devoted to British painting, before an unmissable stop in the vineyards of the region.

Concern for the environment

The King of England is expected there again this year, because the links of the crown with the wines of Bordeaux are very old. “The wines of the Château d’Issan were served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henri Plantagenêt, on May 18, 1152″, says Éric Pellon, technical director of Château d’Issan Margaux. After this marriage, Aquitaine was English for three centuries. Charles III should choose another castle, convert to organic and sustainable development.
