The news stunned the United Kingdom and beyond: in a short video broadcast on Friday March 22, Princess Kate announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer and that she had begun a “preventive chemotherapy”. As soon as the message was broadcast on social networks by the British royal family, reactions multiplied, in the country and around the world.
King Charles III said “proud of courage” demonstrated by the wife of his eldest son William “speaking as she did”, Buckingham Palace reported. A palace spokesperson said that the sovereign, himself suffering from cancer, was “remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout these last weeks”.

The spokesperson added that she had no comment to make on a possible conversation between President Joe Biden and the wife of Prince William, heir to the British throne.
