“Making those who need them to survive pay more for medicines makes them feel guilty”denounced Monday January 22 on franceinfo Gérard Raymond, president of France Asso Santé, while the government announced the doubling of franchises on boxes of medicines, paramedical acts, medical transport, and participation in consultations and biology examinations from end of March.

Deductibles will be doubled to 1 euro on boxes of medicines and paramedical procedures, fixed contributions to 2 euros for doctors’ procedures and consultations, medical biology examinations and analyses, and the deductible to 4 euros for transport sanitary facilities.“This is not at all a surprise because we have been opposing this increase in this franchise for more than six months”explains Gérard Raymond.

“We consider that health is not a consumer good, and that comparing the telephone plan to health is not how we are going to make people responsible.”

“Making those who need them to survive pay more for medication makes them feel guilty. Out of guilt, some will not seek treatment and will be more affected“, he added, calling instead for “empowering prescribers”. “We must prioritize health education and prevention so that every citizen realizes that this health system is generous and that it should not be abused but simply used.”
