Charentais melons marketed by Lidl have been recalled due to exceeding the maximum pesticide limits, according to the government site Rappel Conso. Exceeding the maximum residue limit of the molecule flonicamid, from the neonicotinoid family, was observed. These insecticides are notably accused of accelerating the massive decline of bee colonies.
The products concerned are unbranded Charentais melons sold at Lidl between June 10 and June 29, 2023. The batches of affected products and the list of stores concerned were shared by the Rappel Conso site. The south-west of France is more affected than the rest of the country.
There are many symptoms of too much flonicamid consumption. The latter can in particular cause digestive disorders, nausea, vomiting and headaches. It is recommended that you return the products to the point of sale to request a refund. The recall procedure remains in effect until July 17.
