On Wednesday April 10, athlete Anouk Garnier climbed by arm strength on a rope to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. A feat for a just cause, which earned him a world record.

On the morning of Wednesday April 10 in Paris, the Eiffel Tower looked like a land of conquest. The athlete Anouk Garnier, obstacle course champion, set out to attack the great iron lady, suspended from a rope 110 meters above the void. In just 18 minutes, the young woman managed to meet the challenge she had set for herself: reaching the second floor of the tower. A broken world record, but also a climb to raise awareness of the fight against cancer.

A fight against cancer

Rope climbing on the Eiffel Tower is incredible, a great opportunity“, rejoices Anouk Garnier. The sportswoman adds that she also did it”for the League against Cancer, to show that you have to play sport“. Among her supporters this Wednesday morning, her mother, suffering from cancer, was touched by her daughter’s feat.

Since its construction, many have attempted to break records by climbing the Eiffel Tower. More recently, in 2021, tightrope walker Nathan Paulin walked barefoot on a strap above the void, attached to the monument.
