CH captain Nick Suzuki is one step closer to a return to play

Canadian captain Nick Suzuki was back on the ice at the Bell Sports Complex on Monday morning, and he could be playing with the Montreal squad within a week.

Suzuki was injured a few days before the Habs opened camp last week, when he collided on the ice with defenseman Joel Edmundson. Suzuki is injured in the lower body.

For his part, Edmundson has again injured his lower back and the duration of his absence remains undetermined, although the Canadian indicated that he “is showing progress” in his rehabilitation.

In his medical update, the Canadian also indicated that defender Madison Bowey is struggling with an injury, the nature of which has not been disclosed. His state of health is reassessed on a daily basis. Bowey skated with Suzuki on Monday morning.

The first players were also removed from the Canadiens’ camp on Monday. They are goalkeeper Antoine Coulombe, defender Daniil Sobolev and forwards Jared Davidson and Cédrick Guindon.

The Canadiens are playing their first preseason game on Monday night, hosting the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre.
