(Toronto) The Montreal Alouettes selected American kicker Sam Clark and German offensive lineman Nouredin Nouili in the Canadian Football League world draft on Tuesday afternoon.
The Alouettes, the defending Gray Cup champions, selected Clark of James Madison University at ninth overall before setting their sights on Nouili of the University of Nebraska at 18th.e step.
Unsurprisingly, five of the first nine players drafted are specialists (precision or punt kickers).
In total, seven precision or punt kickers were selected. Defensive linemen (four), linebackers (three), wide ends (two) as well as an offensive lineman and a defensive back rounded out the choices in this global draft.
A total of 18 players (two per team) were selected during this two-round draft.
The Edmonton Elks, who had the first pick in this world draft, chose linebacker Eteva Mauga-Clements.
This was the fourth edition of the CFL World Draft. Previously, the Canadian circuit held separate auctions for Mexican, European and Japanese players.
