CFL | The Roughriders are excluded from the playoffs

(Regina) The Saskatchewan Roughriders were eliminated from the CFL playoffs on Saturday, the result of a 29-26 loss at the hands of the Toronto Argonauts.


Dan Adeboboye tipped the scales with a five-yard run for a touchdown with 58 seconds left in the final quarter.

As a result of this seventh loss in a row for the Riders, third place in the West will go to the Calgary Stampeders, with a view to the playoffs.

Saskatchewan’s season ended with seven straight losses for the second year in a row.

The Argonauts (15-2-0) can post the best record in history, having had 15-3-0 records in 1996 and 1997. To do so, they must win in Ottawa next Saturday.

Running back OJ Ouellette had 50 yards on 11 carries, bringing his rushing total to 1,009 yards this year.

DaVaris Daniels also reached 1,009 yards-via catches. He totaled 84 yards that way on Saturday.

Chad Kelly had 243 air yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He has 4,092 passing yards this season.

Ouellette and Damonte Coxie scored the Argos’ touchdowns. Alfredo Gauchuz Lozada added three precision kicks.

Jake Dolegala of the Riders had 436 passing yards. He completed two touchdown passes, but he also made two interceptions.

Shawn Bane Jr., signed during the off-season as a free agent, capped an excellent season with 136 receiving yards, for 1,104 such yards in total.

Samuel Emilus had 137 yards receiving; his total in this regard this season has been 1097 yards.

Bane fils, Emilus and Antonio Pipkin reached the pay zone in a losing cause. Brett Lauther made two placements.
