Jaelon Acklin caught a touchdown pass and led the team with 144 yards as the Redblacks defeated the Toronto Argonauts 23-13 at BMO Field on Sunday.

Caleb Evans found takers on 24 of 29 passing attempts, including twice for the major, and gained 286 yards through the air. The Rouge et Noir have increased their record to one win and six losses.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed just 26 of 40 pass attempts for 340 yards.

He also had a touchdown pass for the Argonauts (3-3), who saw their five-game winning streak against the Rouge et Noir at BMO Field snapped.

Trailing by three points to start the fourth quarter, the Argos saw the situation deteriorate. Defensive lineman Wynton McManis received a penalty for throwing the shoe of the Rouge et Noir player he tackled.

Subsequently, Evans spotted Nate Behar for a seven-yard touchdown. With a lead of 10 points, the formation of the capital no longer looked back.

Acklin scored the Rouge et Noir’s other major, a 30-yard catch.

The CFL leader in receiving yards gained over 100 yards in a third consecutive game.

Lewis Ward had three field goals in the win, including a 46-yard field goal on the game’s first possession.

Brandon Banks was the only Toronto clan to register a touchdown, a pass caught on 29 yards.

Boris Bede was credited with two field goals, including one from 42 yards.
