Maier also completed touchdown passes to Reggie Begelton and Jalen Philpot, while Rene Paredes scored a field goal for the Stampeders, who snapped a two-game losing streak. The hometown favourites also scored a safety.
Maier completed 25 of 32 passes for 307 yards.
Stanley Berryhill III and Justin McInnis scored majors for the Lions, while kicker Sean Whyte put the ball between the posts three times, including a 52-yarder.
Stefan Flintoft had a single on an 84-yard field goal with 1:53 left to cut the deficit to one, but the Lions were unable to do more. They saw their five-game winning streak come to an end.
After the Lions failed to score on their first two possessions, quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. led a seven-play, 83-yard drive that ended with Berryhill’s 14-yard touchdown run at 10:14 in the first quarter.
On the streak, former Montreal Alouettes running back William Stanback had three carries for 33 yards.

A nine-yard pass from Maier to Begelton then tied the game. Later in the second quarter, Philpot gave the Stampeders the lead with a 23-yard pass.
Adams came back after a 43-yard field goal by Paredes with an eight-play, 70-yard effort capped by a nine-yard touchdown run by McInnis.
The Stampeders regained the lead on a major from Barnes after a safety, but missed the two-point conversion.
