CFL | Blue Bombers dominate Roughriders in Winnipeg

(Winnipeg) The Blue Bombers’ defense prompted six turnovers and the Winnipeg squad outscored the Saskatchewan Roughriders 31-13 on Friday night.

The Blue Bombers, who allowed 48 points to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week, forced three turnovers on tries, recovered a fumble and made two interceptions.

The Blue Bombers improved to 13-2 and secured a home playoff game in the West Division.

Zach Collaros completed 14 of 25 passes for 296 yards and threw four touchdown passes. Kicker Marc Liegghio had a 22-yard field goal and was perfect on four touchdown converts for the home team.

The Roughriders are now 6-9, but still in playoff contention.

Quarterback Cody Fajardo had 26 of 38 attempts from the air caught for 307 yards. He scored a touchdown and was the victim of an interception.

The Blue Bombers offense got going after Roughriders kicker Brett Lauther landed his second field goal of the night. Collaros joined Nic Demski for a 42-yard major.

Collaros followed with a 64-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Schoen to give the Blue Bombers a 31-13 lead in the fourth quarter.
