CF Montreal | Positive for COVID-19, Romell Quioto is an uncertain case for Saturday

(Montreal) The situation among forwards at CF Montreal remains a concern, despite the fact that the team was able to take advantage of a two-week break since their last match in MLS to lick the wounds, after a busy schedule.

Mason Toye is still out from an injury sustained during training camp, and Bjorn Johnsen will be sidelined for about six weeks after suffering a fractured two toes in his left foot Tuesday in practice.

And as if that were not enough, there is the status of Romell Quioto which is uncertain, for the meeting on Saturday against FC Cincinnati (2-3-0), in Ohio.

The Honduran striker contracted COVID-19 during the last phase of the Concacaf qualifying tournament for the FIFA World Cup, to the point of missing his country’s last two games.

By videoconference on Thursday, head coach Wilfried Nancy was reassured by noting that Quioto had no symptoms. However, he added, the team will not know until Friday whether he will be able to play this weekend.

CF Montreal (0-3-1) remains in search of a first MLS victory in 2022 and will face a club that has given them a hard time over the seasons.

FC Cincinnati have won three of their first five outings against Montreal since entering the Garber circuit in 2019, in addition to collecting a draw.
