Mauro Biello will soon be an immortal. CF Montreal announced Wednesday that the club legend will be inducted into its Wall of Fame at Stade Saputo on July 16.

He will thus become the fourth player in the organization to receive this honor, after Nevio Pizzolitto, Gabriel Gervais and Greg Sutton.
The ceremony will take place at half-time of the game against Toronto FC that Saturday. The club also invites its supporters to wear their old Impact jersey.
In addition to wearing the club’s colors from 1993 to 2009, Mauro Biello was its captain from 2002 to 2009.
He helped the Montreal Impact win three playoff championships (1994, 2004 and 2009), five regular season championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2005 and 2006). In addition to winning the organization’s first-ever Canadian Championship, in 2008.
He was named Impact MVP four times, in addition to being named to the league’s First All-Star Team on five occasions.
He is the leader in the history of the club in terms of games played and started, minutes played, goals, assists, points, winning goals and shots on goal.
After his playing career, Mauro Biello was assistant coach from 2009 to 2015, before being appointed head coach in 2015. He was fired at the end of the 2017 season.
In 2019, he was hired as an assistant coach for the Canadian men’s national team, helping them qualify for their first World Cup in 36 years. He is also the head coach of the men’s under-20 team.
