CF Montreal | Forward Romell Quioto is out with a long-term injury

CF Montreal head coach Hernan Losada confirmed Thursday that forward Romell Quioto will be sidelined for an extended period.

Quioto underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test on Tuesday, which confirmed his hamstring injury.

The Honduran played for 45 minutes against Toronto FC on May 13 and was involved in a scrum with opposing players after the game. He then missed both MLS games last week and Wednesday’s matchup in the Canadian Championship.

After Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls, Losada said Quioto felt pain in practice on Friday.

Losada said the “hamstring injury” was more severe than Quioto’s last leg injury, which caused him to miss nearly a month of action, earlier this season.

Quioto has played in seven MLS games in 2023, including six starts, and he has moved the ropes on three occasions. He also played for Honduras in the League of Nations.
