CF Montreal exercises contract options for four players

CF Montreal announced on Friday that it had exercised the contract options of four players for the 2024 season.

The Montreal team exercised the option on the contract of goalkeeper Logan Ketterer, defenders Róbert Thorkelsson and Ousman Jabang, as well as attacker Ariel Lassiter.

The Bleu-blanc-noir did not exercise the option on the contract of goalkeeper James Pantemis, defender Zachary Brault-Guillard, midfielders Ahmed Hamdi and Sean Rea, as well as attackers Jean-Aniel Assi and Jojea Kwizera.

The team also mentioned that forward Romell Quioto’s contract ends in 2023.

Ibrahim returns

CF Montreal also announced Friday that striker Sunusi Ibrahim has signed a contract extension until 2026.

The agreement also comes with an option year for the 2027 season.

The 21-year-old Ibrahim has scored three goals and added three assists in MLS this season. He played 1,174 minutes in 25 games, including 11 starts.

The forward from Keffi, Nigeria, added three goals and an assist in the Canadian Championship, helping the Bleu-blanc-noir reach the final.

“It was important to keep Sunusi with us for several more years,” said CF Montreal vice-president and chief sports officer Olivier Renard. We were his first club when he left Africa at just 18 years old, but he is still very young today at 21 and we see that he has potential. He has managed to show us his qualities and it is now up to us to ensure that he continues to improve and is even more consistent in the future so that he can help us achieve our goals. »

Ibrahim joined CF Montreal on January 12, 2021. He has totaled 13 goals and five assists over the last three seasons in all competitions. He also helped the team win the Canadian Championship in 2021.
