CF Montreal will have to wait before tasting victory for the first time on the lawn of Dignity Health Sports Park. The Los Angeles Galaxy easily defeated the Montreal XI 4-0 on Monday night.
Since the arrival of the Californian club in Major League Soccer (MLS), it has never suffered defeat at home against the Quebec team. Greg Vanney’s men had no trouble continuing that streak in today’s game.
Mexico international Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is one of the most dangerous players on the Garber Tour, but he’s only scored one goal in his last 10 games. He remedied this dry breakdown by opening the scoring in the eighth minute.
Wilfried Nancy’s troupe did not look bad in the following minutes, but struggled to be opportunistic. Bad luck, however, fell on her during stoppage time in the first half. By virtue of that loss, the Belle Province team took third place in the MLS Eastern Conference, three points behind the New York Red Bulls and the lead. They will now head to Kansas City to face Sporting, the league’s lowest-ranked team, on Saturday.
