CF Montreal announced Monday that it had acquired Bulgarian-Canadian midfielder Dominik Yankov, following a transfer from Bulgarian first division club Ludogoretz Razgrad.
Yankov then signed a three-year deal, which will come with two option years in 2027 and 2028, using targeted allocation money.
Yankov, who was born in Toronto, is a 23-year-old midfielder who began his career with the Toronto Power FC academy, before flying to Europe where he joined Sunderland’s academy in England in 2013. He then moved to Bulgarian First Division club Ludogoretz Razgrad in 2016. He rose through the ranks, moving from the U19 team to the reserves, then finally to the first team in 2018.
With Ludogoretz, Yankov accumulated 15 goals and 14 assists in 128 games. He helped his team win four Bulgarian championships in a row (2019-2023), as well as a Bulgarian Cup (2023) and a Bulgarian Super Cup (2022).
Yankov also participated in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages, the Europa League and the UEFA Conference League. Internationally, he represents the Bulgarian national team. He made his debut with her on October 8, 2020, and has 17 caps to his credit.
