CES 2024: our best nuggets

The 2024 edition of CES, the global innovation show in Las Vegas, closed its doors on Friday January 12. For four days, more than 4,000 exhibitors descended on the casino capital, occupying the equivalent of 43 football fields. And of the 20,000 new features announced, here are some of the most surprising and innovative.

Nicolas Hieronimus, the big boss of L’Oréal, made the show on Tuesday, January 9, in Las Vegas, and he not only unveiled the AirLight Pro, an infrared hair dryer, more economical and less harmful to the hair , but also virtual makeup technology, to look better during video conferences on Microsoft Teams. Also for men!

A 3D printed tooth, available much more quickly, the time to receive the final prosthesis: this is what Formlabs offers, with its new resin whose shade can be chosen to match each patient.

A complete health check-up with BeamO

Health again, with the BeamO signed by the French Withings: this little stick that looks like a remote control is a multiscope: it combines a digital stethoscope, a contactless thermometer, an electrocardiogram and an oximeter, to measure the oxygenation rate in the blood . Enough to carry out a complete check-up if necessary, with information automatically transmitted to your doctor for an initial diagnosis.

We also talked about Food Tech in Las Vegas, in other words technology at the service of food, with two examples: the first is this WillCook bag, less than 300 grams with its battery. This cover could be mistaken for a laptop case. In reality, inside, the temperature rises to 90° in 10 minutes, to 130° in 20 minutes: enough to cook food or keep a meal warm for eight hours. Release planned for next September, around €200.

Flapie: the anti-trophy cat flap, mouse or bird type

For its part, Profile, a General Electric brand, unveiled the first indoor smoker. This oven, more vertical than horizontal, has a compartment for wood chips on its right. These chips are burned automatically, internally. An advanced filter system prevents the acrid taste of the fumes released from coming into contact with the meat. Count the equivalent of €999, only in the United States for the moment.

A 2024 edition of CES where AI was omnipresent. We verified it again with Flapie, this funny cat flap which relies on artificial intelligence, and on an infrared camera, to prevent your cat from entering if it returns from the garden with a trophy, such as a mouse or bird.

And then, AI again, this time, at the service of fashion, with this clothing capsule, a limited mini-collection, signed The Kooples and IMKI, designed by an artificial intelligence trained from the French brand’s models. Result: a dress and perfectos covered in rhinestones which should go on sale in the coming months.
