A man is between life and death after the explosion of a homemade bomb he was making in the basement of his home, in L’Avenir, in Centre-du-Québec.
The explosion occurred on Friday around 1:15 p.m. in a residence on 5and row, in L’Avenir, near Drummondville.
The explosion took place while the victim, Michel Couture, was working on an improvised explosive device commonly known as a “pipe bomb” which was concocted with match powder, according to our information.
The recipe would have been found on social networks.
Explosives technicians from the Sûreté du Québec were still on site at the end of the evening, said police spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.
The 48-year-old man was transferred to hospital following the explosion. We would fear for his life.
The other occupants of the residence were evacuated. However, no fire was reported by the firefighters on site.
