A violent fire heavily damaged a Rona company warehouse during the night from Thursday to Friday in Wickham, in Center-du-Québec.
According to initial information, the fire broke out shortly after 11 p.m. in the warehouse located on rue Principale, near the intersection of rue Blanchard.
When the firefighters arrived, the fire had already grown with flames spreading to the roof of the warehouse, while a mechanical excavator was requested on site.
Firefighters from neighboring municipalities such as Saint Nazaire d’Acton, Acton Vale and Saint-Germain were called to the rescue to assist their colleagues from Drummondville.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) evacuated neighboring houses, but no one was injured, its spokesperson said, adding that the cause of the fire is not yet known.
The damage caused by the flames to the structure of the building and to the equipment inside the warehouse is significant, it was specified without being able to assess it.
Furthermore, Route 139 was closed from the 9th Rang by teams from the Ministry of Transport who set up a detour to prevent motorists from avoiding the sector.
