Center-South | Skateboarder in critical condition following hit and run

A 22-year-old snowboarder is fighting for his life after being hit by a driver at the corner of De Lorimier Avenue and Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal’s Centre-Sud district.

Found unconscious and injured in the upper body by officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) called to intervene on the scene around 6:30 p.m., he was taken to a hospital center where he is in critical condition.

According to the first information available, the young man was going from east to west on Sainte-Catherine Street when he was hit by a vehicle coming from the north, at the intersection of De Lorimier Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle whose description is still unknown would have left the scene following the impact, indicates the SPVM.

Its agents set up a security perimeter by closing De Lorimier Avenue between René-Lévesque and Maisonneuve Boulevards and Saint-Catherine Street between Cartier and Parthenais streets. Specialist collision investigators must go to the scene to try to establish the circumstances of the tragedy.
