Center of Quebec | Driver dies in crash with truck, but baby survives

(Sainte-Perpétue) A face to face between a car and a heavy truck cost the life of a mother on Wednesday in Sainte-Perpétue, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

The collision occurred around 2 p.m. on Route 204, near Route 116, when the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers from the MRC de L’Islet station received the call.

“Aboard the vehicle were a woman and a baby. The driver was taken to the hospital. She was seriously injured and unfortunately her death was declared, ”said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

“As for the baby, he suffered injuries, but we would not fear for his life,” she said.

The truck driver was not injured.

Route 204 was still closed in the area, around 8:45 p.m., in both directions. Motorists were invited to take a detour via Route 216.

SQ investigators were still busy analyzing the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
