Céline Dumerc, captain of Basket Landes, receives the Legion of Honor

The civil promotion of the Legion of Honor, published in the Official Journal this Saturday, January 1, this time distinguished 547 people, some of which are involved in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. But in this long list, we also find three Landaises, including a sportswoman emblematic of our department.

Indeed, Céline Dumerc, the captain of Basket Landes and current general manager of the French women’s basketball team, is promoted to the rank of knight of the Legion of Honor. Of course, the basketball player was not born in the Landes, but she has become a essential figure of the club. It is notably with her that the players of Basket Landes won the first French championship title in the history of the team, on May 15, 2021.

Two other distinguished Landes

Another Landes personality appearing in this promotion: Marie-Francoise Nadau, pharmacist and mayor of Parentis-en-Born. She is also vice-president of the Great Lakes Community of Municipalities. She too was appointed to the rank of knight of the Legion of Honor.
