Diego Pooth Joins ‘Let’s Dance’
Starting February 21, Diego Pooth (21) is set to dazzle audiences with his dance moves on the RTL show ‘Let’s Dance’. As the son of the renowned Verona Pooth (56), Diego is stepping into the spotlight to showcase his talent. Currently a student and golf professional, he also models to supplement his income. Diego is determined to compensate for any limitations in his dancing skills by applying hard work and discipline, viewing this experience as both a sporting challenge and a competition, as he shared with Spot on News.
Following in Famous Footsteps
Diego, the eldest son of Verona and Franjo Pooth (55), aims to carve out his own identity beyond his famous parents. Several celebrity offspring have successfully used ‘Let’s Dance’ as a platform to establish their individuality. A prime example is Anna Ermakova (24), daughter of Boris Becker (57), who clinched victory in the grand finale in May 2023 alongside her dance partner Valentin Lusin (37). Anna’s impressive performance, where she scored the highest points from the jury eleven times, has set a remarkable record. Following her triumph, she participated in the ‘Let’s Dance’ live tour, became a judge on ‘Supertalent’, and pursued her music career, effectively distancing herself from the label of “the daughter of” post-victory.
Another notable participant was Gabriel Kelly (23), the son of musician Angelo Kelly (43), who competed in the 17th season of ‘Let’s Dance’. Teaming up with dance professional Malika Dzumaev (33), Gabriel emerged victorious and later joined the ‘Let’s Dance’ tour. His adventures also extended to a trip through Vietnam with fellow contestant Ann-Kathrin Bendixen (25), which he shared with his Instagram followers.
Cheyenne (24) and Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht (33), children of Natascha (60) and Uwe Ochsenknecht (69), were already in the public eye before their participation in ‘Let’s Dance’. Jimi Blue faced an unfortunate exit in season eleven due to a stress fracture, while Cheyenne took part in season 15 but secured only the 13th position.
Chiara Ohoven, born in 1985, is another celebrity child who competed in ‘Let’s Dance’. As the daughter of Ute-Henriette (78) and entrepreneur Mario Ohoven (1946-2020), Chiara danced in the tenth season in 2017 but was eliminated during the second round alongside her partner Vadim Garbuzov (37).
Other notable contestants with famous parentage include Wayne Carpendale (47), son of Howard Carpendale (79), who won the inaugural season in 2006. Hardy Krüger Jr. (56) participated in 2022 but had to withdraw due to COVID-19, and Sophia Thomalla (35) took home the trophy in the third season in 2010. Now, her mother, actress Simone Thomalla (59), is following her daughter’s legacy by competing in the 18th season of the show.
