President of the United States between 1977 and 1981, the Democrat celebrated this anniversary in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. He returned to live there after leaving the White House. A city that is predominantly Republican. Among the festivities: a flypast of military planes over his house.
After a series of hospitalizations, he has been receiving end-of-life care since February 2023. The former president remains very interested in politics. He even wants to vote for Kamala Harris in the November election which pits the vice-president against former Republican President Donald Trump.
