The brothers Jean-Marc and Pascal Verhaeghe are leading figures of Cahors. Pioneers of organic farming, they produce some of the best wines of the appellation. To our delight, they also produce this little Cahors, Chatons du Cèdre, which is excellent value for money.
Made from purchased grapes (80% organic), the 2019 is better than ever. Already, he smells and tastes Cahors. It has the intense purplish color of Malbec (associated here with 10% Merlot) and offers an aromatic and complex nose with notes of blueberries and blackberries, with accents of ink, violet, iron and pencil lead. The mouth is articulated around a solid substance, with moderate but firm tannins, while demonstrating freshness and delicacy.
To be enjoyed with steak and fries, duck confit or grilled red meats.
