Cavendish Boulevard | Mayors worried about the deadlines for connecting the sections

The mayors of Ville Mont-Royal, Côte-Saint-Luc and the Borough of Saint-Laurent are concerned about new delays in the project to connect the two sections of Boulevard Cavendish.

On Thursday, they filed a letter with the Montreal agglomeration council denouncing the delay in the initiation of environmental studies prior to the project.

“We now learn that the project is on hold [pour un] unfounded reason, ”write the elected officials in this document, saying they have obtained their information from municipal services. They demand that “the City of Montreal continue without delay and with diligence all the environmental impact and pre-project studies to which it has committed”.

According to the project schedule, the environmental studies were to be carried out in 2022-2023 and presented in 2023. The signatory mayors are certain that the contract to carry out these studies has not yet been awarded.

Sophie Mauzerolle, responsible for the transport file on the executive committee, assured the agglomeration council that the project was progressing smoothly.

“The project is still in progress,” she said, indicating that the racetrack development acceleration committee could contribute to the Cavendish connection project. “I want to assure you that all of this is progressing well. »

The project to connect the two sections of Boulevard Cavendish has been in the works for decades. Montreal presented last year a proposal for a structure that gave pride of place to public transit and active transportation.
