Reshuffle: Catherine Vautrin at the head of a super ministry – (franceinfo)
Catherine Vautrin, who had been a minister under the presidency of Jacques Chirac, is the new Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity.
After being tipped for the post of Prime Minister in 2022, Catherine Vautrin made a remarkable entry into the government at the head of a large Ministry of Labor, Health and Solidarity. Several times MP for Marne between 2002 and 2017 under the UMP/RPR label, she has been president of the urban community of Grand Reims (Marne) for almost ten years and municipal councilor. Catherine Vautrin has already been part of a government. In 2004, under the presidency of Jacques Chirac, she became Secretary of State for Integration and Equal Opportunities. She was then Secretary of State for the Elderly, then Minister of Social Cohesion.
Support from Nicolas Sarkozy then Emmanuel Macron
His vote in 2013 against same-sex marriage and his participation in the Manif pour tous were strongly criticized, despite regrets expressed by Catherine Vautrin. Supporting Nicolas Sarkozy, she is labeled UMP then Les Républicains, but supports Emmanuel Macron in 2022. She is fourth in the protocol hierarchy, behind Bruno Le Maire and Gérald Darmanin.
