“The National Assembly is an extremely restrictive institution, with rigid, old, outdated frameworks, which makes any freedom of speech and any popular and political movement difficult to express in this world”, launched the deputy for Taschereau. Monday at a press conference to announce that she would not stand again in the general elections next October.

Mme Dorion is not bitter: “I knew what I expected, I had heard about it, and that’s why I got involved in a party that wants to reform these institutions,” she said. underline. But she denounces a system where “a few people” close to the Prime Minister “do pretty much what they want” for four years.

“For me, it is very serious. It’s really serious. I don’t know if we’ll end up talking about it more outside, but for us, it’s unacceptable and it shocks us every day. And this institution should not work like that, ”she said.

She criticizes the fact that François Legault’s Coalition avenir Québec decides “100% of things” when it only received, “when we take abstention into account, the vote of 25% of Quebecers”. “I represent a current, I don’t represent all of Quebec, but many people recognize themselves in what we bring as an idea. These people have 0%, ”laments Mme Dorian.

“It’s very difficult to make the will of the citizens who voted for you exist. And besides, even if you don’t want to influence the decisions of the ministers and you just want to have answers, you’re no more capable, because if they don’t answer you, if they don’t give you the ‘information […]they have no consequences,” she added.

After four years of not stopping herself from saying what she thought of the Assembly and its codes, Ms.me Dorion hopes that “anti-system, anti-conformist” candidates, apple brewers, will take his place “so that the dream, the imagination, the novelty, the freshness and the truth can once again become an integral part of this institution which is supposed to govern”.

If Mme Dorion leaves the Assembly, she does not completely renounce politics: she will remain an activist of Quebec solidaire and she will be at the front to defend the Quebec tramway project.

“The left in Quebec must understand that if we want to get out of this reign where it is impossible to have things in Quebec that improve mobility, that improve living together, that makes the city more beautiful, easier , plus the fun and more relaxed, we will have to fight this battle. […] Whether I am an MP or something else, I have the same talent, and I will continue to fight,” she explained.

She attacked the “clique” of radio hosts who “plant all those who have tried to improve mobility in Quebec”, and is hardly surprised by the rise in popularity of the Conservative Party of Quebec in the National Capital Region.

“When you listen to Radio X, Éric Duhaime is there almost every day. The animators give him free publicity every day. It is a radio that is still listened to in Quebec. We have a private radio which has turned into an electoral machine for Éric Duhaime, ”she said.

Mme Dorion will focus on his artistic career. The one who describes herself as a workaholic will also try to slow down his pace of life to take care of his family.
