American singer Cat Power has just released a new covers album, soberly titled “Covers”. An exercise that she appreciates: it is her third after “The Covers record” in 2000 and “Jukebox” in 2008.

four years later Wanderer, her last album, on which she also did a cover, that of Stay by Rihanna, Chan Marshall aka Cat Power is back with a new album where she performs her own versions of already known songs. His two previous compilations of the same genre had been very successful.
Among the titles she chose this time, Bad Religion, which Frank Ocean sang in 2012.
Cat Power has apparently overcome its many demons of the decade 2000-2010: depression, addiction to alcohol and toxic relationships, to return to form and appeased. She delivers 12 tracks, covering Iggy Pop or Nick Cave, but also Bob Segar, Jackson Browne, The Replacements, Lana Del Rey… and Irish band The Pogues for A Pair of Brown Eyes.
Without forgetting this very beautiful cover of I’ll be seeing you by Billie Holiday, dedicated to her friend Philippe Zdar, musician, French producer and half of the electro duo Cassius, who died in June 2019.
Another good news for his fans: with this new disc, Cat Power is also returning to theaters. She will thus be in concert in France from the spring, and in particular at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, on May 29 (full).
