Meetings intended to launch the traditional information-consultation procedure prior to the implementation of the PSE. The CGT, UNSA, CFDT, CFE-CGC inter-union group of the group expects tough negotiations, even if the new general director of the company undertakes to pay “supra-legal” compensation, to use his expression . What exactly does this PES provide?
The new management team plans to reduce the workforce by 1,300 to 3,200 positions. A very wide range pending the sale of all stores by September. Some 1,293 job cuts in the group’s headquarters functions, including some 550 in Saint-Etienne which will remain the anchor of the group, knowing that Casino has other headquarters in Vitry-sur-Seine (Franprix), Clichy (Monoprix) and Bordeaux (Cdiscount).
Where is the store disposal plan?
The new management of Casino indicates that it has sold 121 stores to its competitors Auchan, Carrefour and Les Mousquetaires, out of the 287 planned, all for around 700 million euros. The sale of the remaining 166 stores will be carried out in two stages scheduled for May 31 and May 1.er July. Independently of the “head office” functions concerned by the job protection plan, the three buyers (Kretinski, Ladreit de Lacharrière and Attestor) have undertaken to take over all the employment contracts of the people assigned to the transferred stores. As for Auchan, Carrefour and Les Mousquetaires, they promise to maintain the provisions and advantages of the Casino collective status for a period of fifteen months.
What remains of Casino internationally?
The group is practically no longer present there, which still employed some 200,000 people worldwide at the end of 2022, 50,000 in France. After the sale of the “large format” stores, and before the PSE, Casino only employs 28,200 people in France.
