The Versailles Criminal Court (Yvelines) recognized footballer Karim Benzema guilty of attempted blackmail on his former teammate Mathieu Valbuena. He was sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence and 75,000 euros in the so-called case of sextape, Wednesday November 24. This conviction compromisesher future within the France team?
“A priori not, since even before knowing his sanction, the president of the French Football Federation declared that Karim Benzema would remain selectable”, explains Sophie Neumayer, duplex of the court. The court, however, did not mince words about the striker of the Blues. He felt that he used his professional stature to deliberately help the blackmailer. “He even detected in the Real striker a form of excitement and even jubilation”, adds the journalist.
