Well known in electronic music circles, British composer Sam Shepherd has reached a new audience with his exquisite orchestral jazz-ambient collaboration with the late saxophonist Pharoah Sanders (Promises2021), which was followed by a commissioned work from the San Francisco Ballet. During the mandate, the desire to create grooves dancing itched at him. Testifying to the size of his musical register, Cascade brings together nine minimalist and nervous compositions, powerfully rhythmic (except Ablaze in conclusion), warmly matched with the sounds of its modular synths. Between house and techno, each composition is based on a simple idea, developed horizontally using the best tricks to build tensions that will push the dancers to abandon themselves in its grooves — jerky on Vocoder (Club Mix) in opening, more soaring on Key103 And Of Gold which will follow, more experimental on the B side, notably in the quasi rock finale ofAfflecks Palace. His tribute to Giorgio Morder (Birth4000) will wreak havoc in the clubs.
