Carte blanche by Serge Denoncourt | Reaction to the text “Poor Edgar”

What I think of the abuses of Fruitier: “I repeat. I have never had any serious after-effects or insurmountable trauma caused by these misconduct. Uneasiness in the dressing room, of course. Discomfort at his touch, obviously. The fear of having sabotaged my young career, yes. It is more or less that. ”

It’s already a lot as a sequel, don’t you think? Our brain forgets a lot of things from the past, but the abuse never does. The images, the discomforts, the smells, the guilt are etched in our soul despite all these years.

Yes, some do get through like you, like me. But how many men are no longer there to bear witness to it, because they did not know how to be able to do so, death was their deliverance? How many men have locked themselves in silence, because their brains have tripped from the abuser’s first gestures?

You are right, whatever the age or the notoriety of the abuser, it is a crime that he committed and it must be denounced, despite the years.

Serge, thank you for having the courage to do this.
