The star candidate, whose jump to Sherbrooke had been announced in May, chose to run in this riding since she now lives in Estrie.
“To the people of Sherbrooke, I introduce myself to you in all humility. I want to hear from you about the issues that must define the Sherbrooke of today and that of tomorrow,” she called on Sunday during the launch of her campaign alongside her leader, Premier François Legault.
A former Bloc member of the Commons, Ms. St-Hilaire became mayor of Longueuil in 2009, a position she held for two terms, before becoming a political analyst, notably at “La Joute” on the airwaves of LCN.
Remember that a few days ago, the former PQ minister turned political analyst Bernard Drainville also made the leap to join the CAQ, leading the opposition parties to ask questions about the place of sovereignty within of François Legault’s party.
The riding of Sherbrooke is currently held by solidarity Christine Labrie, who is to announce on Sunday that she will run for a second term.
