Caroline Garcia saved a mixed French record in Florida. During the Masters 1000 in Miami, the tennis player won over Naomi Osaka in two sets (7-6, 7-5), to reach the round of 16, Sunday March 24 in the evening. This is not the case for Océane Dodin, stopped by Coco Gauff, while Adrian Mannarino stopped in the second round.

The 27th player in the world brought down the returning Naomi Osaka for the second time in three matches this year. In just under two hours, the two players managed no less than 28 aces (16 for Osaka), but Caroline Garcia didn’t give up. A victory which is good for the mentality of the Frenchwoman, who had not reached the round of 16 in Florida since 2019.

Caroline Garcia will find Coco Gauff. The American brought down Océane Dodin (6-4, 6-0), particularly in the second set completed in twenty-five minutes. The native of Lille lost her three service games against the young world number 3.

Among the men, Mannarino falls, Humbert and Monfils wait

Adrian Mannarino suffered the same fate as Océane Dodin, against the 56th player in the ATP ranking, Yannick Hanfmann (3-6, 7-6, 6-4). His first game suggested that the Frenchman was in good shape, when he broke his opponent from the start before pocketing the first set.

But the 20th player in the ATP rankings gradually appeared physically diminished and the second set completely changed the appearance of the match. The Frenchman once thought he could win, having a match point at 5-4 in his favor, before breaking down, embroiled in a tie-break completely controlled by the German player (7-1). Adrian Mannarino then failed to regain the upper hand in the third set, conceding six games to four.

Another Franco-German duel now awaits Ugo Humbert. The French player will try to qualify for the round of 16 in Florida, against Dominik Koepfer, before Gaël Monfils does not clash with world number 1, Carlos Alcaraz, on Monday.
