Succeeding her father, Caroline Fortin took over Éditions Québec Amérique and acquired a majority stake in Éditions Cardinal.
“I am very proud to take up the torch from my father [Jacques Fortin] who has dedicated more than 50 years of his life to publishing. Over all these years, he transmitted to me professional rigor, this concern for a well-done book, but above all his passion for books, ”Caroline Fortin declared in a press release.
Since 2011, she has been in charge of the general management of the family business, which is celebrating its 47 years. The announcement comes a few weeks after her return from Europe, where she was passing as chair of the organizing committee of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which this year honored Canada.
The patron saint of Québec Amérique also gave a foretaste of her first year as sole owner, announcing the first novels by “promising” authors, including comedian Mariana Mazza, and the return of expected writers, including Andrée A. Michaud and Stéphane Dompierre.
From her 30 years of experience in the publishing house, Caroline Fortin has worked in production as well as in editorial development and international affairs.
