The team announced the news on Sunday.

Brind’Amour’s deputies are Jeff Daniels and Tim Gleason. The agreement also includes goalkeeping coach Paul Schonfelder and video instructor Chris Huffine.

“Rod has played a crucial role in the team’s success over the past six years,” said president and general manager Don Waddell, in a press release. Brind’Amour was in the final year of a contract signed in 2021, when he won the Jack Adams Trophy as the NHL’s most outstanding head coach. His future was a subject of rumors throughout the NHL, although Brind’Amour and Waddell said they were confident they would find common ground.

Brind’Amour inherited the team in 2018, after a ninth straight season without participation in the playoffs. Since then, the Hurricanes have made six straight playoff appearances under the team’s captain when they won the Stanley Cup in 2006.
