Rowjay is a rapper, but more importantly a life coach. “If I do it, it’s to motivate / Motivate teachers, motivate criminals / Motivate all doctors, motivate all fraudsters,” he sings in the chorus of the title song of his new album. Success is his credo, it’s his mission, which he fulfills with his own style, that clumsy but jovial prosody that makes him an endearing UFO of the Montreal rap scene. And to succeed, he understood that he had to know how to surround himself well, which he accomplishes perfectly on the album: collaborations with colleagues, several from the French rap scene (including Alpha Wann on Devil may cry), generate the most memorable of the 19 songs on the album. But it is above all the work of the composers / directors that gives life to this Carnival of finesse : impeccable, daring, creative, the FREAKEY !, Platinumway and DoomX have imagined suave and minimalist rhythmic arrangements of psychedelic synths.
