We must continue to invest in mental health services, hammered the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, a few hours after the macabre discovery of three people killed in the Rosemont district on Friday morning.

Towards the end of the morning, Mr. Legault spoke to the media, returning to this tragedy that occurred in the morning in Montreal, but more generally also to mental health disorders.
“If I speak in general terms, it is certain that there are more and more events related to mental health,” he said.
However, he clarified that he could not comment specifically on the tragedy that took place in a dwelling located opposite the Montreal Heart Institute.
“There are questions to be asked about how we do when we know a person who has mental health problems, and who could be at risk for him or for others”, he added, specifying that we must “continue to increase mental health budgets”.
Recall that François Legault quickly reacted on social networks after the discovery of the three bodies in a pool of blood.
“Three lives were taken this morning in Rosemont. It’s awful […] We are monitoring the situation closely,” he wrote earlier on Twitter.
Highlighting the work of the police who are investigating to shed light on these events, the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, offered her condolences to the relatives of the victims.
“I have a thought for the three people who died in horrible circumstances in Rosemont,” she tweeted.
The mayor of the borough of Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, François Limoges, said he was “without words” given the seriousness of the event.
“I am speechless following this terrible tragedy which took the lives of three people in the east of [l’arrondissement]. I thank the first responders and the [Service de police de la Ville de Montréal] who is leading the investigation to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy. My condolences to the loved ones, ”we can read in his Twitter post.
“In shock”, the interim leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Marc Tanguay, called the event a “brutal attack”.
“I am appalled and in shock at this brutal attack. My thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims. We continue to monitor the situation and hope that the toll will not worsen. With all my heart with those affected,” tweeted the MP for LaFontaine.
“My team and I are in contact with the police authorities. Waiting for more info. My first thoughts are obviously for the victims”, indicated, for his part, the united deputy of Rosemont, Vincent Marissal.
The federal deputy for Hochelaga, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, described this crime committed on the edge of her riding as a “tragedy”.
“A tragedy! Three people were murdered this morning in Rosemont. It’s incredibly violent… I’m thinking of the victims and their loved ones and my heart goes out to them. We are monitoring the situation closely,” she tweeted.
Referring to the rise of violence in society, the leader of the Parti Québécois, Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon, called the news “tragic”.
“Tragic events in Rosemont this morning. Three people were violently killed. My thoughts go out to the loved ones and families of the victims. We must act in the face of the increase in violence in our society, whatever the source,” he said.
The Liberal MP for Viau, Franz Benjamin, for his part offered his condolences to the relatives of the victims.
“Another drama. While waiting for the details and reasons… My sympathies to the relatives of the victims. Thank you to the police and paramedics!”, can we read in his tweet.
The Conservative leader, Éric Duhaime, for his part, wanted to highlight the work of the first responders.
“Another tragedy strikes Quebec. This time in Rosemont. Our hearts and thoughts are with the victims and their families. Thanks to the first responders,” he said on Facebook.
“Another great sadness. As always, our thoughts are directed to the loved ones of the victims without forgetting the emergency responders who have to deal with these horrors. With all my heart with you,” wrote the Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and Inuit on Facebook.
