Carnage in Gaza | The duty

I can’t be silent anymore.

Mr Prime Minister, you cannot continue to condone the infamy happening in the Gaza Strip. You know very well that Israeli strikes deliberately target buildings identified as shelters for Palestinian families. You cannot continue to make Canada complicit in these crimes. I am amazed at the total support you give to Israel without any questioning of its actions towards an increasingly desperate population.

The Jewish people have suffered more than their share of suffering and deserve more than any other a place that will be a safe haven for them. But it is certainly not by asphyxiating, suffocating, oppressing another people who, just as legitimately, are fighting for their homeland, that peace will be established between them.

I certainly do not claim to influence your attitude in any way, but my silence would have seemed to endorse your way of acting, which I deeply disapprove of.

I implore you to hear the complaints of the people of Gaza.

P.-S. : I have not changed a single word of this email sent on July 31, 2014 to the office of Mr. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister at the time. We say: “The more things change, the more…”, no it’s a thousand times worse. We read the newspaper and turn the page; we change the channel on TV. And it continues ! What the hell should we do?
