The shareholders of the car manufacturer Stellantis approved with 70.2% of the votes the remuneration of Carlos Tavares, which could reach 36.5 million euros for the year 2023.
Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, should receive 36,494,025 euros for the year 2023. Remuneration which arouses indignation among employees. This is all the more difficult for workers to accept as the company has cut several thousand jobs around the world in recent years. This level of salary is today linked to the very good results of Stellantis, which this year posted a record profit of more than 18 billion euros.
A company based in the Netherlands
Questioned, Carlos Tavares justifies himself: “Beyond the contractual dimension, there is the societal dimension. If you believe that this is not acceptable, make a law and modify the law, and I will respect it.” Promised in 2012, the regulation of the remuneration of big bosses in the private sector has never seen the light of day, and the company based in the Netherlands does not depend on French law. At this stage, only shareholders have the power to lobby, if they wish, to change the amount.
