It’s a lightning robbery, automatic pistol in hand. While a first thief takes away the owner of the vehicle, an accomplice recovers the keys, the attack lasted only eleven seconds. In recent months, this type of attack has increased significantly in the United States. In California, a father had his car stolen. The thief, stopped a few kilometers away, did not even realize that a little boy was sitting in the back.
Washington capital of carjacking
In the chic suburbs of Washington a month ago, the owner of a restaurant was the victim of an attack. A man, gun in hand, rushes to retrieve the keys to his sports car. “They hit me on the head with the butt”, he said. He immediately gave them the keys to his vehicle. In the space of a few months, Washington has become the capital of carjacking, with twice as many thefts as last year and six times as many as in 2019.
