Carey Price Says He Knew About Polytechnique Massacre…and Stands By His Position

In the midst of a media storm surrounding Bill C-21, Carey Price has just confessed on his Instagram account that he was aware of the Polytechnique massacre, contrary to what was announced yesterday.

“Despite an earlier statement, I was in fact aware of this tragedy. I have been a member of the Montreal community for 15 years and I understand the weight of this day within the community, ”wrote the goalkeeper on his Instagram page.

While I have no control over the timing of the amendment to Bill C-21, I stand by the opinions I shared, I recognize that amplifying any conversation about guns this week may have upset some of those most affected by the events of 1989 and I apologize to them. »

It was the president of Groupe CH, France-Margaret Bélanger, who declared yesterday that Price was “not aware” of the massacre of December 6, 1989 and was therefore unaware of the existence of the anniversary which was approaching. “When we saw his publication, we brought to his attention the reactions on this subject”, had written Mme Belanger.

The goaltender has been making headlines since sharing his support for the Canadian Coalition for Gun Rights (CCFR) on Saturday.
