Medical students, health professionals, members of feminist associations… On Wednesday May 29, a demonstration took place in front of the Ministry of Health, in Paris, to denounce sexist and sexual violence in the hospital environment and demand the establishment measurements. “We are asking for platforms so that people can testify. We are waiting for measures in universities and hospitals”explains a demonstrator.
For several weeks, the #MeToo movement has affected the hospital, echoing the declarations of the head of the infectious diseases department at Saint-Antoine hospital (Paris), Karine Lacombe. She accuses doctor Patrick Pelloux of sexual assault and moral harassment. According to a survey, 17% of female doctors said they had been victims of sexual assault in hospitals. The testimonies keep coming.
