The Bronx-born singer also said she is partnering with the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, a non-profit organization that works closely with many city agencies in the American metropolis. In a statement released by Mayor Eric Adams’ office, Cardi B said she sent “her prayers and condolences” to all those affected by the tragedy.

“I’m extremely proud to be from the Bronx, I still have many friends and family members who still live and work there today,” she said. When I learned about the fire, I immediately knew I had to do something to help. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish felt by the families of the victims, I hope that not having to take care of the funerals of their loved ones will help them in the healing process. »

Mayor Adams said he was grateful for the financial contribution of Cardi B, “a true superstar, with or without a microphone”. “The city will be eternally grateful for his help, but also that of all the donors and institutional partners who offered their immediate support for their neighbors in need. »

Among the 17 victims were eight children. Last week, a couple who survived the tragedy filed a lawsuit against the building’s owners, claiming there were serious deficiencies in its upkeep.
