The riding of Bonaventure finally fell into the hands of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) after a tight fight with the Parti Québécois.

New MP Catherine Blouin thus won 43.8% of the vote around 10:30 p.m., ahead of her main competitor Alexis Deschênes who finished second with 31% of the vote.
Poll aggregators still put the two candidates face to face at the start of the day.
Bonaventure had as incumbent Sylvain Roy, elected under the banner of the Parti Québécois without interruption since 2012.
Having slammed the door of his political training last year, Mr. Roy announced that he was leaving politics last July. He said he was sure he could have won by running as an independent candidate, but recalled that the workload of an independent MP was considerable because of the “need to position oneself on all the issues” .
