CAQ | Joelle Boutin resigns

The caquiste Joëlle Boutin confirmed the rumors on Wednesday by announcing her resignation from her post as deputy for the riding of Jean-Talon, in Quebec. She will officially step down on July 31.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, she said she had accepted a new private job that she will start in August.

It was an open secret that Joëlle Boutin, 43, was disappointed not to have been appointed to the Council of Ministers.

Holder of a master’s degree in public administration from Concordia University, this public relations specialist – and ex-air pilot – had to settle for becoming parliamentary assistant to Pierre Fitzgibbon, for science and innovation.

The by-election to replace her in the riding of Jean-Talon already promises to be tight. According to the Qc125 electoral projection site, the PQ would be in the lead in Jean-Talon with 31% of the vote, against 27% for Québec solidaire. The CAQ would be in third place, at 25%, while the Liberal Party would settle for 11%. The Conservative Party would only have 4%.

More details to come.
