A fire started early Saturday morning caused one victim in Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf, in the Capitale-Nationale region.
Emergency services went to the scene of the blaze around 6 a.m. Saturday, on Rang Notre-Dame, in Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf. This range connects the heart of the municipality to Lake Sept-Îles.
An inanimate person was in the heart of the flames and could not be reached due to the flames, said Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The fire was brought under control in the following hours. No leading theory towards arson, but given the victim, an SQ investigation will be opened. A crime scene technician and a dedicated investigator will visit the scene to better understand the scene, said Mr. Ruel.
